
There are a vast number of variations on what ingredients you can use when you make Glühwein. But the spices are generally similar from one recipe to another. Serves: 7 servings
Quantity per serving: 250ml
Ingredients:
- 1 litre Red Wine
- 500 ml Orange Juice
- 375 g Sugar
- 2 Cinnamon Sticks
- 3 Star Anise
- 5 Cloves
- 1 Apple, grated
- 150 ml Brandy
- 200 ml Port
Garnish:
- Cinnamon sticks
- Cloves
- Orange slices
Method:
- Combine orange juice; sugar; cinnamon sticks; star anise; cloves; grated apple and bring to the boil
- Add the red wine; brandy & port
- Let it simmer for a while
- Strain before serving
- Serve in a red wine glass with 1 cinnamon stick; a few cloves & a slice of orange
